People were saying when an earthquake is imminent, there will be signs. There were early warning devices which can detect such signs and measures could be taken to minimise damage. Unfortunately, there were none in the Indonesia / India region, resulting in loss of lives of at least 60,000.

I just read in a news article that Thailand's meteorological department actually detected it. But they had delayed sending the warning because the Tourism board says that such warnings will harm their tourism industry. The warning did go out on Sunday to tourist resorts in south Thailand. Apparently they did not take it seriously enough. Now the tourism industry is really hit big time for the Tourism's board actions.

This is abit late. But there was a terrible earthquake (9 on the Richter scale) on 26th Dec 2004 off the coast of Sumatra that results in terrible Tsunami that devastated alotta places, eg India, Phuket, Sri Langka, Indonesia. The death toll as of now is at least 55,000. It's the worst disaster in 40 yrs. Please try to help out where you can.

I was having lunch with some friends just now when my phone rang. It's from Gerald. He sounds excited.

"I've found it finally!"

It turned out he has found where the Depot Rd laksa, Zhen Shan Mei, has moved to. And he's eating that today. For those who do not know, some pp, icluding me, thinks that Zhen Shan Mei is the best laksa in Singapore. It's old premise, a coffee shop in Depot Road has closed down earlier this year. Since then, Gerald has been searching for it.

Ok. The new location for Zhen Shan Mei is Alexandra Village Hawker Centre. No unit number. Go look for it yourself.

Someone told me this morning that Liverpool has not won Newcastle for the past duno how long. My answer is that Liverpool has not won in Old Trafford for 50 yrs few yrs back. Now they win there a number of times liao. Such history dun count much.

True enuff, Pool wins today. Gd goals by Mellor and Baros. Entertaining game to watch! I cancelled my sports channel at home. So I go to the kopi tiam downstair and ordered a bottle of beer and watch the match, like the ah peks, but minus the kiao kar. This is so much cheaper than going to the Liverpool club. 1 bottle of beer cost onli $5 at the kopi tiam. But 1 jug of beer in the club is $20. If you do not know, 1 jug = 2 bottles. Another reason I did not go to the club this time is cos everytime I go there watch, the results mostly less than disiring.... Think it's a cursed place. :P

Last week, I subscribe to a new Starhub mobile line. This was because Starhub offers free IDD to Taiwan, and other countries. This will enable me to call Yijun at a lower cost. :P And it comes with free incoming calls. I informed my closer frens abt this new number so that they'll call me on this line. My existing M1 line cannot be cancelled as I am currently under contract. But i figured that I have alotta talk time and sms in that line, so I go for the starhub plan with no sms but more outgoing talktime.

Just now, I am doing my sums and thought that the extra subscription for Starhub might hurt me. I called M1 to see if I can downgrade my plan. My plan is under contract, so I thought I cannot downgrade it, but I decide to give it a shot. It turned out I was wrong. I can downgrade after all. So I downgrade it to a free incoming call plan with 100 outgoing minutes and 500 sms. So now my frens can forget needing to remember a 2nd number for me. I'll use the starhub line solely for calling yijun. :)

If you read until here, I thank you. Seriously, of all my blog entry so far, I think all of them are crap. And boring. Who would be interested in knowing the logic for getting a new mobile line. I won't be interested to read this blog. Somehow, the other blogs are so much more interesting... I have much to improve on....

Reservist finally ended yesterday. Got a number of stupid, irritating but not serious injuries from the reservist. Grr.

There's also a bad news. My platoon sergeant, and the next in line for platoon sergeant are likely to change job and defer for the next reservist, which is the atec evaluation. which means i may be tasked to do platoon sergeant role. Horrors. My topo skill is terrible...

This is very siong. Cindy reported a number of bugs to be fixed by monday. and since I am in reservist in the weekdays, the onli time I can do it is in the weekends.

Booked out yesterday afternoon from camp. went home. sleep. wake up in the evening and went to an expensive chinese restaurant for dinner to celebrate my parents 30th wedding anniversary. went to ofc after that to work. at 10+. I skipped kitty's bday celebration. lugi. she's treating.

today is whole day fixing bugs.

Oh ya, i was having fun chatting with yijun with web cam. it's so much better when i can c her when we chat. :) The next thing is to get the mic + head piece working and we can have a vocie chat liao.

Tomolo it's back to camp again. and it's test time. if we do well, we would have further the career aspiration of a stranger. if done badly, we would have to do it again.... sigh. fingers crossed....

Today is night's out day. And I get to be home now. :)
