Wala Wala And Durian Puffs
I've not been to Wala Wala for a long time. So this time, I got Eric, Alex, Wanda, Felyn and her friends to go there. THe UnXpected is still very nice!!
Goodwood park came to our office to make some promotion and Felyn and Alex asked me to buy some for them. As it need to be refrigerated, I asked the Wala Wala staff to keep them for me. When Felyn left, she took her 2 boxes with her, leaving 1 box for Alex in the fridge.
Unfortunately, we forgot about the box until Alex had dropped me off. I quickly called him to remind him about this. End up he say it's very troublesome for him to DRIVE back to collect and ask me to WALK back to take it. So I end up with a 20 minutes walk and a extra box of durian puff that I do not need.

Happy Belated Birthday to Tianhong

This article is way overdue. We went to Worm's place to celebrate Tianhong's birthday on June 2nd. 3 of us went early to his place to have a round of mahjong 1st. We played the 3-6 half rate and I lost $5.
After that it's dinner at a nearby coffee shop, and the rest started arriving.
We went back to Worm's place after dinner and had some games and then it's cake time!

Happy Birthday, Tianhong!

Congrats to Harry and Lup Wai

This is another back dated post. Harry and Lup Wai had their wedding at Rasa Sentosa. I always thought that the view at the Sentosa beach is quite bad as it's full of ships and tankers. However, the view from the dinner ball room is quite nice. Thats because the sea is blocked by tree leaves. :P

The dinner went on as normal, after which, we proceed to their hotel room for some fun. :P The frog above is a free gift from the hotel to the couple. Looks like an ugly mascot for the hotel I thought.[IMAGE: View from the room] - Show
This is the view from the hotel room. It's quite nice, if you do not try to look too far ahead.[IMAGE: Alcohol for the little girl] - Show
Harry tried to entice the little girl to drink his beer. :P[IMAGE: Start drinking] - Show
And Darius started doing his stuff. To get Harry drunk.[IMAGE: Cheers] - Show

After much coaxing from Darius and co, finally Lup Wai managed to strip Harry to his birthday suit. His brother suggested that we have a competition to guess the color of his underwear. Guess who won? His mum. Talk about insider trading.[IMAGE: Belles] - Show

Kena stabbed
Just found out from my boss that I kena stabbed.
There's this idiot in my office. He's in the company Recreation committee. 1 day, he go and tell the big boss that he is too busy to be in the committee and say that I should replace him since I so zobo.
I've always don't like him, though I thought I never showed it. This makes me dislike him even more. And that's an understatement. It's so low. He don't want to be in committee work, instead of asking me nicely, go and get the big boss to force me, and push a knife in my back while at it.
I don't mind to be in the committee. I've done it in a previous job. I've helped organize some other events in this company. I just don't like to take over from him for this. Especially after he stabbed me like this.
Idiot.

You are what you eat
Another personality test
There's only 4 questions about your eating habits. After I answered, I thought the result sound exactly like me. It should be a coincidence, or I could be wrong about myself. Well...

You are a sensitive person and often find yourself daydreaming about your past and future. You are quite conservative and the values that your parents and teachers instilled in you still play an important part in your decision making.
You are always wilful and most of the time, you are a stubborn person. But you love to work and are quite honest, which makes you good to get along with as a friend or lover.
You are tough, hard-working and responsible. When you are assigned to do something, you will do your best no matter how difficult the job at hand might be.
You are soft-minded. You find it's too hard to say "No" to others, especially when you are pushed. Quite often, you are taken advantage of because of your soft-minded nature.

Bangkok Trip Part 3 - Tawandeng
Continued from Hua Hin
18th May 2007
This article took very long. This is because I need to use a lot of pictures taken from Bel's camera. The problem with her pictures is that she likes to put the date in the picture when she took it. Long time ago, when we were still using film camera, I like to have the date imprinted in the picture. This is so that we can know when the picture is taken. But when it comes to digital camera, the picture creation date is part of the file. We don't need to have it imprinted anymore. In fact, it looks ugly. And it will block some of the details. I have to painstakingly remove the dates of each pictures. Stupid camera manufacturers who put this stupid features in digital phones.

Right after we reach Bangkok and checked into the hotel, we head to Tawandeng for our dinner. As luck would have it, Andy, who's in Bangkok on work, is also in Tawandeng with his colleagues, and we can meet up there. When we got there, there's a long queue. Fortunately for us, 4 of Andy's colleagues just left and we can go take over their seats. And what good seats they are. The 2nd table from the stage in the center. I've been to Tawandeng a lot of times. I've never sit at the area directly in front of the stage, not even those nearer the rear. This time, not only is it in that area, it's the 2nd table from the front! Wow! Apparently, Andy's colleague is a regular in Tawandeng, and he made the reservation for them even though he did not come.
I love the dinner. Unfortunately, the rest of them don't like to eat pork knuckle and I ate most of it. Cloud is also apprehensive of drinking the Tom Yam soup.
This beer is ordered by Andy and his colleagues. They did not finish it and they did not pay. So we paid. It's worth it for the front seats though.
This is Wee. I think she has grown prettier since I last saw her. :P
Three are a few performers on the night. They took turns to perform. This performance needs special mention because he came up stage with a tight pants and a big bulge and with lots of thrusting movements. I have no interest in the bulge of course, but I think it's funny. I doubt that it's real though.
Overall, the performance on the stage is very nice. At 12midnight, they sang birthday songs to those whose birthday is near. There will be a few staff holding a cake, helping celebrate their birthdays. I realise the table next to has the most staff standing by. More than double of the other tables. It was because 1 of the guys there is the big boss and he's giving money to whoever can grab. He has a big stack of 100B to distribute. I am quite tempted to grab 1 for myself. And this guy took a liking to Wee and hit on her aggressively. He keep talking to her, asked her to the front to dance and even wanted to send her home. When we leave Tawandeng, he walks us to the main road and waited until we board the taxi.
We stayed at Bangkok City Suite. The same hotel I stayed in the last few times I went Bangkok. This time I noticed quite a number of changes. The door is different. The rooms feels bigger and there's a bathtub in the bathroom. It was only 700B per room per night, with free wifi. However, the room was smaller, there's no bath tub, and the breakfast sucks. The breakfast still sucks, but now it feels like a normal Thai hotel room.

Aeroplanes
Recently, I have been involved in a number of aeroplane-flying incident, both the receiving and giving out ends. I am not a pilot of course, I am talking about backing out of appointments at the last minute.
I really fly a lot of aeroplanes recently. I thought all of them are quite valid reasons. While I didn't compensate them, I tried to make sure that they do not suffer any monetary lost. canceling a reservation is only inconvenience, no moeny lost there. $15 entry fee is a lost.
But of course, my standards are not everybody's standards. Everybody's definition of reasonable reasons to put aeroplane is different. Some people cannot give their blessings to their friend have the benefit of a free ticket, and yet is ok with being nua as a reason for aeroplane. A told me that he'll not accept the free ticket if he's in my shoes. So the next time if I want to fly him aeroplane, I'll have to buy him a movie ticket then.
- Senario 1:
I asked my friend, A, out for dinner later in the day. After having A make all the arrangements, like reserving a table and asking other friends, I discovered that I already had an appointment. I had arranged with B and GF to watch Phantom of the Opera. We bought the most expensive tickets and I forgot the date. I only realize it when B called me to confirm the meeting time. So I fly the A aeroplane. - Scenario 2:
A asked me to watch Spiderman 3 with him some time back and I agreed. Few days later, D called me to say that he has a free ticket for Spiderman 3 and invite me to watch with him and his wife. I decided to fly A aeroplane, but A is not too happy about it, so I have to plead with D to help get 1 more ticket. The free tickets are given free from his company. He has the ticket for me because his colleague can't make it. So D have to go around asking for tickets. He offer me a free ticket, and yet I have to make him look for 1 more. - Scenario 3:
I am supposed to meet A for a late dinner. At about 10. I finished my stuff at 8:30pm, so I went for a beer to waste the time away. I received an sms from A to say that he feeling nua, and want to stay home. The next day, we were supposed to meet for a movie, and he offered to pay for my ticket. I don't care for that anyway, but if it makes him feel better, and it benefits me after all. - Scenario 4:
F asked me to take part in some event organized by SBS. There's an entry fee of $15 per team of up to 4 person. I agreed. However, I later realized I am supposed to go Batam that weekend. So I asked F to check if they allow replacements. If they don't, then I'll pay for the entry fee. Luckily they allowed. But if F can't find the replacement, I guess I'll still offer to pay.

Improvement
I've been going to MacRitchie Reservoir every Wednesday evening for a walk/jog with my colleagues. The route we took is the purple route. It is similar to the route we took during the cross country run during school times long time ago. Except that, instead of turning left after the jungle track onto the road, we either turn right onto the reservoir bank, or turn back the way we come. The reservoir bank path will be much longer, but it's flat. I estimate the reservoir bank path to be more than 4km, probably close to the 4.8km distance of the cross country run.
As I mentioned above, the first part of the run is jungle track. It's full of up slopes and down slopes. I love down slopes, hence I don't mind the up slopes. Much. Anyway, I've always not able to complete the jungle track without slowing down to walking. Somehow, my calf muscles always feel like lead midway through the jungle track.
2 weeks ago, as usual, i was jogging/walking on the jungle track. towards the end, I receive a phone call and I walked the whole of the last stretch. I finished the call just as I reached the end of the jungle track, and I proceed to jog on the reservoir bank path. Somehow, it's the first time I jogged there. I was surprised to find that I can finish the whole path jogging, despite having jogged a certain distance already. That's when I realize the strain of the up slopes on my calf muscles.
And surprisingly, this week, I managed to finish jogging through the whole jungle track. I took the reservoir bank path again this time. I took a walk 2 times to talk to my colleagues. It's only for a short distance, but I caught a few breath during that time. Overall, I feel pleased with the improvements I made this time.
On the downside, having played badminton the previous day as well, my leg muscles are aching the next day. And I have a soccer session at the end of it. Talk about stressing my muscles...

Responsibilities
In my recent Bangkok trip, we pool a sum of money to be managed by Bel. The pool of money is supposed to pay for stuff that we do together, like meals and taxis. This system is working fine except for 1 glitch.
On Saturday, we had our dinner at this place called Baan Klang Nam with Ball, his gf and his gf's sister. After the dinner, Alex took out his wallet 1st and paid for it. Bel is supposed to pay him back later. And there's where the problem occurs.
When we come back, Alex looks at his expenditure and finds about $100+ not accounted for. He thinks it's because Bel did not pay him back, which is about 2700 Baht. However, I have an impression that Bel mentioned having paid him about 2000 Baht first due to Alex not having 300 Baht for change and Bel only have 1000 Baht note. I do not know if Bel later settled the 700 Baht.
Bel has no recollection of this at all. She can't even remember who paid for the dinner though Alex definitely did ask her for money. She did not remember if she paid Alex anything. I told Bel that if she did not pay Alex, then we definitely have to pay him back. But if she paid, and she can't remember, we still have to pay, because Alex claim that we haven't, which means we pay double. On hearing this, she criticize Alex for not remembering properly if he did paid.
This leaves a sour taste in the mouth for me. Being the person in charge of a public fund, she should at least be aware of what she paid and did no paid. I don't expect nice book keeping, but there aren't that many occasion that she has to pay something. We only had about 6 meals together, not too difficult to remember, is it? I don't expect special efforts in managing it, just to treat it like her own money. When you are spending your own money, you remember what is it on. Especially if it's of a large enough amount. And the worst is, I did not feel the slightest apologetic attitude from her. She blames Alex for not remembering properly and did not once apologize for not having remembered if she paid Alex.
